                                           Beef Rendang
This is my favorite menu when I have a din¬ner in Padang Restau¬rant. Yup..Beef Ren¬dang. Orig¬i¬nally from Minangk¬abau but now it is served out¬side Indone¬sia as well. Beef Ren¬dang is also famous in Sin¬ga¬pore and Malaysia and usu¬ally served in tra¬di¬tional fes¬ti¬val. But there are dif¬fer¬ences between Indone¬sia and Malaysia, In Indone¬sia Beef Ren¬dang is pre¬fer to enjoy with rice then in Malaysia it’s enjoyed with ketu¬pat. (a com¬pressed rice cake).
Whether you enjoy it with rice or ketu¬pat, both are still taste fan¬tas¬tic. Let’s take a look at the recipe:

                                                            Beef Ren¬dang


Ingre¬di¬ents :
1 1/4 liters Coconut milk from 2 old coconuts
1 Turmeric leaf, torn and knot¬ted
5 Kaf¬fir lime leaves
1 stalk Lemon grass, bruised
1–2 pieces Asam Gel¬ugur
10 Red chilies, finely sliced
1 kg Beef, fat and sinew removed, cut into 3 cm cubes
Spices
3 table¬spoons chopped galan¬gal
1/2 table¬spoon chopped turmeric
1/2 table¬spoon chopped gin¬ger
200 g Red chilies
4 Shal¬lots Salt
How to Cook:
• Sim¬mer coconut milk with turmeric leaf, kaf¬fir lime leaves, lemon grass, asam gel¬ugur, sliced chilies and ground spices until the milk thick¬ens and becomes oily.
• Reduce heat.
• Add beef and cook until tender.
• Stir occa¬sion¬ally until the spices dry and turn brown.

a. Pre-Activity
Determining the topic of Explanation Text that will be learnt. (5 Minutes)
b. While Activities

 Teacher explain about the “Beef Rendang” and then explaining the way to cook “Beef Rendang” as he will do what he is saying and stimulate the students to follow.(20 Minutes)
 Ask the students to write the draft of ”Beef Rendang”.(20 Minutes)
 Evaluating the draft in the way of classmate correction in order to make it better.(10 Minutes)
 Ask the students to construct an explanation text based on their drafts.(25 Minutes)

c. Post-Activities (10 Minutes)

 Asking the difficulties in learning process
 Concluding the material
 Asking the students to construct their own title in form of explanation text at home
